Clark Steet Bridge is a series of two-hour poetic experiences that are scored to music and performed live. After the success of two promotional ads, Clark Street Bridge came back to FCB looking to follow-up on the series.

The project began with a script written by Clark Street Bridge head, John Claxton.

Brian and I were tasked with creating a visual that aligned with the narrative from the text and mesmerized with the viewer. One key component decided early on was that the visuals were to compliment the script, not disctract from it.

This informed our decision to take the route of filming liquid dynamics. Combining liquids like oil, water, coffee creamer and alcohol create very intricate and hypnotizing reactions. Filming these dynamics with macro lenses,  at 4k, and at 120 frames per second allowed us more control when compositing in After Effects. Compositons also consisted of footage we shot of ink dropping into water-filled fish tanks.

The footage looked eerily cosmic when put into greyscale, ink expanding outwards into water resembled distant galaxies. The intention was to juxtapose enormous galactic scenery with macro footage.
